Does it cost anything for BHR to come out and do an estimate?

We do not charge for an estimate. Wayne and Seth are seasoned construction estimators and enjoy looking at renovation projects. They consider it a highlight of the process to understand the "before" and listen to our client as they share their vision for the space. Our clients have said that they feel comfortable with Wayne and Seth, and that their questions are treated in a respectful and helpful manner.

Should I prepare my space for the demolition?

All you need to do is remove all your personal items from the space. We will discuss the details pertaining to your renovation prior to demolition. As a standard, we protect all non-demolition areas with construction-grade floor covering, adhere plastic sheet covers between rooms, and protectors on corners and grates.

Will my space be photographed? If so, how do I prepare for it?

As part of our process, we ask to take before-and-after photos/videos of your renovation for our portfolio and social media. For before photos, just tidy up if you’d like a clean look.

For after photos, please ensure the space is clean, free of personal items (ie. toys, soaps, appliances, hair products), and that any visible adjacent areas are also neat. The shoot is quick and typically takes about 45 minutes.

How long before my home renovation project can begin?

Scheduling for your project is usually 3 months out. For instance, if you decide to contract with us in March your project will commence with demolition in June of that same year.

Does my free estimate include drawings?

Drawings come highly recommended since they provide an exact rendering of your space with measurements (heights x widths x depths), and include the items in your space that are being added like doors, windows, cabinets, etc. but the actual drawings are not included for free with your estimate. It's a good idea to ask for a rendering in 2D or 3D. We're happy to send pricing after an initial visit.

Are permits required on my renovation project?

It really depends on the city planning and the type of renovation work. You may be pleasantly surprised at the ease in which BHR completes its city permitting requirements, and that only comes from experience, organization, and top-notch communications. BHR mediates the permitting process from start to finish, and we provide you with up-dates and the steps alongs the way.
